The INBO permanent secretariat is glad to announce the preparation of two new handbooks we would like to publish for the next Brasilia World Water Forum in March 2018 and which will be added to the INBO Manuals collection created in 2009.

The INBO permanent secretariat is glad to announce the preparation of two new handbooks we would like to publish for the next Brasilia World Water Forum in March 2018 and which will be added to the INBO Manuals collection created in 2009.
 

Water Information systems: Administration, processing and use of water related data

 
This handbook aims at presenting:
 
 The main processes to consider within the implementation of a Water Information System (WIS): Data governance, Data production, Integrated data management and data sharing between institutions, Data processing and information production, information dissemination;
 
Some examples of implementation in various domains of the water sector management such as : IWRM water planning, climate change adaptation, flood management, water and ecosystem protection, sectoral water use management (agriculture, drinking water, energy production, ...), Data for reporting (SDG, EU/WFD, EU/FD) ....
 
The editorial team (to which might participate representatives of the WWDI, WMO and UNESCO - to be confirmed) will then work in the integration of the various contribution received and will keep you informed about the handbook development. (Please note that all “Case studies” are also planned to be published on line).

The participation of economic stakeholders and the civil society in the basins of rivers, lakes and aquifers

 
This "handbook" aims to present:
 
1. The main processes and mechanisms to be developed to promote the participation of economic stakeholders and the civil society in the management of water resources in the basins.
 
2. Practical examples of the implementation of these mechanisms or processes carried out in basins around the world.
 
We invite you to send your contributions in this important handbook to the following address: d.valensuela@oieau.fr , before 22 December 2017.
 
 

You will find attached the draft "table of content" proposed for this handbook which will be presented in March 2018 during the next World Water Forum in Brasilia (as well as another handbook on “Public participation”) for which we will also ask you in parallel.

As for the previous INBO publications, your contributions to this "Handbook on Water Information Systems" are much than welcome, and are expected in the form of:

 - Text of 1 or 2 pages maximum (including images) on the “stakes/states of art”, indicating in which chapter(s) of the table of content the text is proposed to be integrated ;

 - Insert of 1 page maximum with images, of specific information to be included in one of the chapters;

 - “Case study” :

for the WIS manual, to be presented using the attached file (1 file / case study)

for the handbook on participation, free presentation

 

The editorial board will integrate the received papers and keep you informed of developments.
