The P2P 4 BO project, the first program of the “Twin Basin Initiative” led by the International Network of Basin Organizations, aims to strengthen integrated and sustainable water resource management in the face of growing pressures and climate change. This initiative is supported by funding from the European Union Commission (DG INTPA).

The project in brief

Strategic Objectives:

  • Enhance governance and institutional capacities of basin organizations through peer-to-peer exchanges.
  • Promote innovative solutions for Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM).
  • Establish a framework for cooperation to share knowledge and practices, enabling better responses to global and local challenges.

Priority Themes:

  1. Governance and Institutional Frameworks: Legal frameworks, division of responsibilities, and stakeholder integration.
  2. Integrated Planning and Management: Basin management plans and climate risk adaptation.
  3. Technology and Information Systems: Data sharing and tools for transparency and decision-making.
  4. Financing and Economic Sustainability: Economic models and tools for sustainable management.
  5. Resilience and Emerging Challenges: Innovative approaches to enhance resilience and address local issues.

  • Civil society organizations (CSOs) and NGOs active in the water sector.
  • Private sector actors and research institutions interested in water resource governance.
