What is the World Youth Parliament for Water?
Since its creation in 2002, the World Youth Parliament for Water (WYPW) has brought together young people aged 18 to 27 who are involved in water management at both the local and international levels. This dynamic network has already mobilised more than 15,000 young leaders and contributed to the creation of more than 55 youth parliaments for water, active at the national, regional and basin levels.
Every three years, in the run-up to the World Water Forum, the WYWP brings its members together to renew its representatives and define its strategic priorities.
The mission of the World Youth Parliament for Water is to unite and coordinate the actions of young people involved in water management, whether at local, international or watershed level. It works for greater recognition of young people as key players in the sector, while raising awareness among new generations of the issues related to water. By encouraging young people to mobilise their skills and creativity, it encourages them to get actively involved and to come up with concrete initiatives for the preservation of water resources.
