This handbook is aimed at a wide range of players involved in the management of transboundary water resources, from national governments to regional organisations, managers and users on the ground. They are all invited to work together to meet the many current and future challenges. The handbook provides guidelines for implementing transboundary water resources management in the diverse situations of developed and developing countries, in temperate, humid and arid regions. This new handbook complements the Handbook on Integrated Water Resources Management at basin level, published in March 2009 at the 5th World Water Forum in Istanbul.
