On the occasion of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3) (Nice, 9–13 June 2025), the International Network of Basin Organisations (INBO) is mobilising for key events related to integrated management of the land-sea continuum and basin governance.

Deltas of the World Summit

Monday, 9 June 2025 | 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Location: Nautilus Auditorium, Palais des Expositions – Nice Acropolis, Level 2

The World Deltas Summit, organised with the support of the Ramsar Convention, will highlight the specific challenges facing deltas – ecosystems that are essential but vulnerable to climate change. Panel 2, entitled ‘Prospering: Meeting Adaptation Needs and Promoting Sustainable Development, Towards Collaborative Delta Management’, will be moderated by Éric Tardieu, INBO Secretary General, and will bring together Busadee Santipitaks (Mekong River Commission), Mathieu Stortz (Compagnie Nationale du Rhône), LaToya Cantrell (Mayor of New Orleans) and Fred Boltz (Global Environment Facility), to discuss adaptation needs, sustainable development levers and collaborative governance approaches in the world’s major deltas.

Spotlight on the Land to Sea Continuum

Monday, 9 June 2025 | 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Location: Archipel Pavilion, Palais des Expositions – Nice Acropolis, Level 1

Organised by AFD, ADEME, FSWP and Circulearth, the event ‘Spotlight on the Land to Sea Continuum to Protect Marine Environments from Plastic Pollution’ will focus on the transfer of plastic pollution from land to the ocean, which accounts for 80% of marine plastic waste.

Éric Tardieu, Secretary General of INBO, will present the Manual on plastic waste transfers to aquatic environments.

INBO experts will also participate in several sessions throughout the week on the themes of coastal resilience, cooperation in the Mediterranean, coastal biodiversity, marine pollution, and interregional experience sharing.
