Organized by the Italian One Water Committee, the Institut Méditerranéen de l’Eau and the Union for the Mediterranean, the Euromediterranean Water Forum will be held in Rome, from September 29th to October 2nd, 2026.
Focused on the theme “Working together to achieve water security in the Mediterranean by 2050”, the event will provide a platform for dialogue among policymakers, civil society, academia, and the private sector, and will be discussing various themes ranging from droughts, water scarcity, and the prevention and management of extreme events in cities, to the water-energy nexus, new uses of water in the tech industry, financial and insurance products linked to water, and the protection of freshwater quality.
Zoom on the Basin day
The International Network of Basin Organizations (INBO) will actively participate in the EuroMediterranean Water Forum by organizing, during the conference and in partnership with the Italian One Water Committee, a Basins Day on October 1st, 2026. This special event dedicated to tackling water governance challenges at basin level includes:
- Starting at 9h30: High level panel in plenary session n°1: Water Governance – Cities, Basin Authorities and Stakeholders Commitment
Simultaneous interpretation will be available in French, English and Italian for the high level panel in plenary session, while the other sessions will be held in English only.
- 11h30 – 13h: Special Session 2: Operationalizing IWRM – shaping the high-level segment dedicated to basins and watershed at the 11th World Water Forum
- 14h30 – 16h: Special Session 3: Governance, a key role for Water resilient River basins : Governance, policies and science supporting resilient river basins
- 16h30 – 18h: Special Session 4: Up-scaling and mainstreaming Nature Based Solutions at the basin level : From pilot projects to basin-scale implementation
