The International Network of Basin Organisations (INBO) continues to develop its cooperation with international actors involved in sustainable water management. In this context, its Secretary General, Dr. Eric Tardieu, was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the India Water Foundation (IWF) at the 2026 edition of the Water Transversality Global Awards and Conclave, held on 6 and 7 March in New Delhi.
Beyond this distinction, this initiative highlights above all the convergence of vision between INBO and the India Water Foundation around integrated and collaborative water resource management, based on knowledge sharing, international cooperation and a basin-based approach.
An international platform for a cross-cutting approach to water issues
The Water Transversality Global Awards and Conclave 2026 brings together public decision-makers, international organisations, researchers and civil society actors around the theme:
‘ESG Transversality for a Sustainable Water-Energy-Health and Environment Nexus’.
The event aims to promote an integrated approach to water-energy-health-environment issues by fostering dialogue between international institutions, governments and specialised organisations.
This transversal approach is directly in line with the principles upheld by INBO: promoting integrated water resources management at the basin level, by the basins and for the basins, and encouraging the exchange of experiences between stakeholders.
In his message of thanks, Dr. Eric Tardieu emphasised the importance of international platforms in addressing the challenges related to water and sustainable development.
I am deeply honored and really thankful to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award 2026 from the India Water Foundation. Through its strong international commitment and partnerships with many global institutions, the India Water Foundation has contributed significantly to strengthening cooperation, knowledge sharing and community resilience.
Dr. Eric TARDIEU – Secretary General of INBO

In a context marked by climate change and increasing pressure on resources, cooperation between organisations, institutions and territories is more essential than ever.
By developing partnerships with initiatives such as those led by the India Water Foundation, INBO is continuing its mission to promote sustainable and efficient water governance.
