The Network of Basin Organizations (RIOB) and its members will actively participate in COP30, organizing side events and engaging in high-level discussions to advocate for integrated water resource management (IWRM) as a crucial pillar of climate resilience. With ambitious goals, RIOB will work alongside global partners to highlight the role of river basins in adaptation strategies, water governance, and sustainable development.
The 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) will take place in Belém, Brazil, from November 10-21, 2025. Along with the COP30, the 20th meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 20) and the 7th meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (CMA 7) will also be held. In addition, the 63rd sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 63) and the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 63) will meet during this time.
The conference will gather global leaders, policymakers, climate experts, scientists, and environmentalists to discuss and make decisions on pressing climate action topics.
As a crucial milestone in the global fight against climate change, COP30 will focus on advancing the goals of the Paris Agreement, including efforts to keep global temperature rise well below 1.5°C. The conference will also address key areas such as climate finance, adaptation, loss and damage, and the alignment of national climate plans (NDCs).
Throughout the event, a series of discussions, workshops, and high-level dialogues will take place to encourage collaboration and decision-making aimed at achieving a sustainable future for all.
