Following the INBO World Basin Summit held in Rio de Janeiro from 16 to 19 June 2026, discover the interview of Ms. Aminata Diop, representing the African Network of Basin Organisations (ANBO), through “P2P – Field Perspectives from the Peers”. This interview series highlights the experiences of partners involved in the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) project and the value of cooperation between basin organisations.

The Peer-to-Peer project is one of the first programmes of the INBO Twin Basin Initiative. Implemented jointly by INBO and the African Network of Basin Organizations (ANBO), and funded by the European Union, the project aims to strengthen integrated and sustainable water resources management through peer cooperation, experience sharing and capacity development.

Now in its operational phase, the project brings together basin organisations and water stakeholders through 21 pairings, involving partners from Africa, Latin America, Europe and Asia. The partnerships provide a framework for peers to compare approaches, share practical experience and strengthen their capacities in key areas of basin management.

In this context, the ‘P2P – Field Perspectives from the Peers’ series gives a voice to the partners involved in the project, highlighting their experiences and the dynamics of cooperation developed through the project.

Presentation of ANBO and its role in the Peer-to-Peer project

This episode features Ms. Aminata Diop, Coordinator of the P2P project for ANBO.

As an implementation partner, ANBO contributes to the joint management of the project alongside INBO. Its role is particularly important for the African basin organisations and partners, which represent a significant part of the P2P programme.

26 of the 61 selected candidates represent the African region, while 15 of the 21 validated pairings involve African peers. ANBO therefore plays a key role in accompanying these partnerships throughout their implementation.

Looking ahead, the implementation of the pairings will continue until 2028, combining peer exchanges with the project’s capacity-building component. ANBO will continue supporting the African peers through technical, administrative and financial coordination.
