From Monday 19th May to Friday 23rd May 2025, the 22nd EURO-INBO International Conference will be held in Parma (Italy), at the invitation of the Po River District Basin Authority and the Municipality of Parma, and in partnership with the French Biodiversity Agency.

Workshops ; thematic sessions about agriculture, food security, floods, droughts, emerging pollution, innovations ; cultural and technical visits : during 5 days, in a face-to-face format, let’s talk about the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD), its “Daughter Directives” and other related policies, directives and regulations.

The Po River is the longest Italian river, the largest italian basin and it is fed by 141 tributaries along its course. It represents a quarter of the entire national territory! With a natural environment very rich in biodiversity, it’s a various territory, with the most industrialized area of Italy and intensively farmed land.

Created in 1990, the main mission of the Po Basin District Authority is to prepare the basin plan, in order to protect water resources, mitigate hydrogeological risks, promote sustainable use of water resources and control the achievement of these objectives.

Alessandro Bratti, PhD in agricultural sciences, has worked all his life for the environment: during 10 years as a Member of the Italian Parliament, and for several years for the Emilia-Romagna Region and for the city of Ferrara, in Italy. He was Vice President of the European Environment Agency, and is still a lecturer at the University of Ferrara.

He is now the Secretary General of the Po Basin District Authority, and he ensures the coordination between State, regional and local authorities and also that the directives of the Standing Institutional Conference are carried out. Finally, he reports on their progress.
